This is made for the Nikon D7000 camera, looks like the same one I got with my camera package (without the charger here). It is a tad bigger then my old Nikon D40 battery and yeah the price is more then the smaller d40. You can get a 3100 battery for 26 bucks here or MSRP of 40, thanks for sticking to the D7000 user. I usually get around 350-400 shots depending on if I do movie mode and live view, both which drain the battery more. My 3 year old D40 battery still hold a good charge and I hope this guy will too in the long haul.
Got my extra at a local camera shop (Glazer). I think the price is high for a little battery compare the D3100 battery.
Update:
I guess the D7000 drains the battery faster then the D40. I left my d40 on over night and it isn't an issue, the battery will drain a bit on the d7000 if you do the same. I used to charged my d40 battery once a month. I had my D7000 for a most 2 months and shot 1900 photos, and I am on my 4th charge. 2 with the original and 2 with the new backup. It is kind of freaky that I am taking that much pictures. I was just a point and shooter (consumer) using the nikon default setting. So I am learning how to shoot with Aperture Priority AE now and doing more fancy stuff.
