Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Nikon Coolpix S210 8MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Cool Blue)Customer Review: Nice small camera. Huge battery charger Summary: 3 StarsI really like this tiny camera that now lives in my wife's purse. However the huge battery charger and plug-in cord that come with it are silly. Search for MH-63 charger on Amazon to see what I mean. The camera itself deserves 5 stars, but the big charger makes this a 3 star review. Nikon should learn from others and ship a small charger with pop out wall prongs. Better yet, charge the camera over USB like other small electronic devices so we don't have to remove the battery or memory card. If manufacturers of small electronics would consistently use USB, it would simplify packing for a trip and eliminate my box full of misc. chargers.
Customer Review: Poor quality pictures Summary: 1 StarsThis is the second digital camera I have owned and the first in 6 years. Need something a little more compact.
I set this up on a tripod to try the different quality settings.
I do not notice any difference between any of the 8mp and the 3mp, and none of the pictures is clear at all. Almost like it is slightly out of focus.
My gut feeling is that there is something wrong with it, so I is going back tomorrow. and we will try again. I will repost if the replacement is any better.
Customer Review: Much better than you think Summary: 5 StarsNikon Coolpix S210 8.0MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Graphite Black)
I have only gotten a few pages into the manual and can only operate a few settings. Yet virtually every shot has come out good. 8"x10" prints from a color ink jet paper printer look great unless you really look close; just faint lines from the printer. Now THAT is a good camera and it would fit in a cigarette pack if you wished.
I've used large, medium and 35mm formats and did my own developing and printing for a few decades. Grain? Very simple: film speed. 100 was ideal, 200 a touch of grain, 400 noticeable and so on. The higher the film speed, the more grain you get. Nothing is free, there is always a trade off. The more difficult you make it for a digital camera, the more problems with the photo.
The best thing I ever did was take a photography class. Minimal cost, 4 or 5 evening classes, and I understood the trade offs between film speed, aperture and lens speed. I imagine digital has similar factors; if I was 100 miles closer to a city I would already be signed up.
Don't expect miracles, but if you understand the basic principles you'll be able to handle tough conditions and get good pictures.
Customer Review: Great camera Summary: 5 StarsI love this camera, great price and the quality is awesome! The user face is super easy and not complex, figured it out in just a few minutes. I purchased one for my parents for Christmas, makes a great gift!
Customer Review: Nikon S-210 Summary: 4 StarsThis camera does a great job if you let it. Meaning just put it in automatic and select the stabalization to auto and let it go. The first pictures we took were using different settings and they did not turn out too good.
Once we put everything in auto it worked out great! We even blew up a shot on the beach to an 8 by 10 and the detail was perfect!
