Customer Review: Nikon messed up on this design

I have purchased and owned a number of these little cameras, but owned this one for less than 30 minutes. Nikon made a serious error in switching from the normal button cursor for the menus to a touch screen interface. What were they thinking? This guarantees that the screen in which you are trying to compose your photo will be covered with finger prints! In all the cameras I own (nearly all Nikon) I try really hard to avoid touching either the view finder or the display screen. If I am bothering to take a photo of something there is usually a detail that I need to be sure is accurately portrayed. That just isn't possible with a screen that is full of smeared finger prints. I have also discovered from my touch screen phone that wiping the screen has all sorts of unintended results. (My briefcase frequently makes phone calls as well.) Touch-screen technology is not the right thing for a camera. I purchased a slightly older coolpix s6000 instead. I had purchased 2 of them in the last six months for others I work with and knew that the quality was perfect for my uses and that the control mechanisms were more appropriate to a camera.
