Customer Review: Perfect companion for the Nikon D90 camera!

In my use and, therefore, my opinion, this is the perfect companion for the Nikon D90 camera. This one lens is suitable for nearly all of your photo needs if you are a casual photographer, an enthusiast or semi-pro. A Tokina 11-16mm lens might round out your lens needs if you enjoy wide angle photography. Leaving one lens on the camera affords you the convenience of always being ready for a great photo opportunity, thus eliminating putting on and taking off lenses, which will subject the camera's mirror to more dust/dirt -- over time, thereby requiring more frequent cleanings. This lens is just a great complement to the D90 and a great convenience. In time, I may add 1 or possibly 2 more lenses. But, honestly, this is lens is a great first investment. It has Vibration Reduction built into it. You can select Auto and yet, simply moving the cuff allows instant manual focus without having to move the selector switch back and forth between manual and auto. Additionally, there is a normal and active mode switch. Active mode is great when shooting things where you are panning your shot(s). It eliminates the motion-related blur you might otherwise encounter. The newer lens no longer suffers from the sometimes earlier reported "lens creep", no matter what focal length is set. My lens works perfectly, everytime. Purchase the B+W Multi-coated UV lens filter. It is offered here at Amazon via Adorama, for about $60. Do NOT cheap out on a filter. You've invested significant money in a great camera and lens. So invest in a high quality filter. You will regret cheaping out on a crappy, inexpensive, poorly coated, filter. Your photos will suffer greatly for it. Don't do it. I tried a cheap filter I already had from some time ago. It wasn't worth it. I quickly ordered the B+W filter. A good filter should function silently and not hinder your photos. I don't even know I have it on. It silently does what it was purchased to do. I won't get into filters here.
Bottom Line: A great first, (and maybe last), lens you'll want. The price is fair for what you get as far as form, function, performance and value. Nikon products generally hold there value quite well, too. Highly recommended.
