I always do my homework before investing a significant amount of money into a product like this. I agonize over every bench test report and professional review. My first indication of the type of performance that I could expect with this lens came from numerous professional reviews that consistently used words like "phenomenal" and "best in class". I have never seen a lens draw so many accolades. I fully agree. This lens is sharp as a tack throughout its entire focal range. There is no color aberration at any setting and if there is any barrel or pin cushion distortion...I can't find it. It is a significant amount of money to spend on a lens but the best of anything has a price associated with it and in my opinion it is worth every dollar.
